Assistant Professor

Elisabetta Grillo, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Biochemistry. Her research is focused on understanding the role of soluble molecules/growth factors (i.e. Gremlin-1, VEGFs, FGFs, Irisin) and their receptors in human diseases, with a strong focus on cancer and metabolic disorders. Since 2020, Elisabetta is investigating the role of VEGFR2 in ovarian cancer and how this relates to the patient response to anti-angiogenic drugs. Since 2023, Elisabetta’s has received funding by Cariplo Foundation to study the role of Gremlin-1 protein during adipose tissue dysfunction. Visit the link for further reading
